Futon cover for child with peacock and mountains
An unusual design, which seems to undoubtedly be a peacock, although the ends of the tail feathers resemble those of the phoenix as traditionally depicted.  He stands on one foot in chaarming indecision, looking at us from one eye.  In the background, three mountain tops are suggested, with dots indicating moss.  The tail feathers are drawn with special fineness and care; see detail below.

Dimensions about 38" x 59" on three panels of traditional loom width.  The background (which is evenly colored) has faded to a soft and tweedy medium blue, with the drawn design in tones of reds, tans, and gray.
