Of beautifully colored bamboo with a dark handle on one edge, and bound together with cane in a subdued ornamental pattern, this mizuya cover exemplifies what is meant by shibui, or refined simplicity.  The seemingly random pattern formed by the bamboo node lines as well as the luster from being gently rubbed over the years add to its aura of refinement.
